Dryland Hugelkultur, Super Soil, and Massive Cannabis Plants
What’s up, everyone? It’s Jerry….The Ghost. I just published a major update on my summer outdoor run over at the main site…Justcannabisseed.com, and if you’ve ever tried to keep a garden alive in the foothills of the Simcoe Mountains, you know the wind up here can be absolutely brutal.
We’ve been dealing with 40 mph gusts that will spin a plant right out of the soil if you aren’t careful. Everybody wants to grow those massive, 10-pound bushes, but out in the elements, height and width don’t mean anything if a storm snaps your main stem at the root.
In this week’s update, I’m sharing a classic guerrilla grow trick I’ve been using for decades: the hand-made wattle fence.
Instead of a solid barrier that creates nasty wind eddies and whips the plants from behind, a simple wattle fence woven from wild-harvested branches lets just enough air through to diffuse the pressure. It’s working beautifully to protect the bed without using cages or artificial supports. I wanted to grow these plants without support…simply to show just how tough a cannabis plant can be.

Not a single yellow leaf on these plants—they are looking fat, green, and completely dialed in despite the high-exposure semi-arid environment.
